The glasses were ready.
Filled with nothing but hope for the few moments of time shared ahead.
One by one they cancelled.
The timing was off.
Too much of life happening all at one moment.
Isn’t that the way it always is?
Life does not always seem to cooperate.
Too often I focus on who is not there.
Instead of seeing who actually is.
Right in front of me.
On that night.
We shared our hearts.
Here we were.
Enjoying our drinks.
Laughing as we made treats together.

Laughing at me or with me was never decided.
There were simply too many sprinkles…
Too many ice cubes…
Too much coffee…
Too many blessings…
Instead of being hunkered down in a coffee shop.
Surrounded by strangers.
We stayed at home.
Surrounded by our friends.
And the children played.

We set aside time for friendship.
I focused on you.
The ones who were there.
And our hearts were blessed.

This was how we spent the evening.
On National Coffee Day.
Did you even know this existed?
I did not, but oh what a fun surprise.

We brought the coffee house home.
Iced Coffee Frappe was my personal favorite from the recipes tried. Perhaps it was because it came from a blender, used Mocha flavor, and was mixed with chocolate ice cream.

Milk Chocolate Cafe Truffles were made the night before the party but we did not roll them into little balls until the party was underway. We thought the guests might have fun. I had no idea watching me was going to be entertaining, as this was my first attempt at making truffles. We could not decide if chocolate sprinkles or rainbow sprinkles would be best, so we made both. My husband did try the recipe using white chocolate chips and that did not turn out at all. Milk chocolate chips are definitely recommended.

Carmel Macchiato poured directly over ice is a simple and easy way to enjoy iced coffee at home without any added fuss. The containers are found in the refrigerated section and have a shelf life longer than you probably need to go through one container.

Vanilla was used as a substitute for liquid in a recipe for chocolate chip bread. The flavor did not overwhelm the bread and I can only wonder what Mocha would taste like. Hopefully I can find that answer out soon!
Disclosure: This was an In Home Party campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of International Delight. I received product samples to facilitate my party, and a promotional item to thank me for participating. All opinions and photographs are my own.

We did have fun. I think the laughing was both at you and with you. Of course you forgot to mention the daggers you were throwing our way:)
